Description

The Sycamore maple is native from Europe to western Asia and has been long established in England and North America. It is seldom seen in landscapes. The ‘Regal Petticoat’ Maple is a medium-height tree growing to 40 feet tall by 30 feet wide and is noted for its exceptional leaf color in the spring. The brightly colored leaves turn a dark green in the summer with a plum-colored underleaf. In the fall, the foliage turn a golden yellow and the underleaf a bright magenta pink accented with hues of red, orange and salmon. The ‘Regal Petticoat’ Maple is thought to be seedless, as no seeds have been detected on trees planted since its development and introduction to the public. The tree is adaptable to soil types and is disease and drought tolerant. It is hardy to zone 3. Shipped dormant in winter, 4″ pot, approximately 8″ tall
