Description

(1/2 OZ) or ~65 Seeds certified organic MANDAN BRIDE corn seeds; Zea mays; Native American Historic variety; Flint corn; 85-90 day A gorgeous flour corn from the Mandan Indians of North Dakota. Makes a beautiful fall decoration before you grind it into some of the most flavorful cornmeal you’ve ever had. An excellent mix of various combinations of red, black, orange, yellow and white, both solid and striped. This is a truly beautiful dent corn. The plants are 5-6’ tall and produce 6-8″ cobs. Corn is wind-pollinated, so plant in short blocks (i.e. rectangular matrix) rather than long rows so that ears fill out with kernels. Rows should be spaced 18-24″ apart; sow seeds 6″ apart. Cover seeds with 1″ fine soil. Typical germination rate 5-10 days when soil temperature is 60F+. Do not plant too early, perhaps wait couple weeks after the last frost.
