Description

If you’re looking for a unique yet attractive plant to add to your garden, then Frizzle Sizzle is a great option! Originating in South Africa, this spiral-grass like plant has a distinctive appearance with narrow leaves and coiled tips. Its leaves arise from an underground bulb and are tightly curled at ends. In the blooming season, frizzle sizzle grows scented yellow flowers. Not to mention, this unusual plant grows healthy under partial sunlight and require less watering than other plants. Being safe from pests or other diseases, Albuca spiralis is an ideal plant for your garden. Caring for frizzle sizzle requires you to know a little more about their growing region and conditions. If cared properly, you may even see your frizzle sizzle producing quirky and dangling vibrant flowers. The nodding blooms of frizzle sizzle have a sweet smell of vanilla and butter. As a genus of 100 types of plants, frizzle sizzle (aka albuca spiralis) coils up from the bulb. Keep in mind that its unique eye appeal bulb needs a cooling period to grow healthy foliage and then the flowers. However, it can be quite challenging to grow it indoors, as they thrive more when kept under sunlight. Nevertheless, frizzle sizzles are fussy about water and drainage needs. So, if you are not experienced in gardening, caring for this spiral grass plant can be a challenge for you. Besides this, it’s important for you to know that albuca spiralis takes 12 weeks to grow fully, especially when you have placed it in the right growing conditions. Moreover, frizzle sizzle requires a minimum temperature of 60° F. Not to forget, frizzle sizzles grow best in slightly warmer temperatures. Nevertheless, an ideal growing season for these beautiful plants is winters. WATER REQUIREMENTS Water your frizzle sizzle plant throughout the winters, when it’s in its growth period. Make sure to water them every week, especially when the soil is dry to touch. However, it’s better to water your quirky spiral plant before it dries out completely. Frizzle Sizzle – Alpuca Spiralis Excess moisture in frizzle sizzle can cause its roots and bulb to rot. Also, too little watering can affect the foliage and flower production. When the plant goes dormant in summers, stop watering until you see new foliage popping up in winters. WHEN TO FERTILIZE YOUR PLANT You will need to feed your eye-catching frizzle sizzle plant throughout the growing season with a balanced and diluted liquid feed as a fertilizer. However, make sure that your albuca spiralis soil is a little wet before you feed it. Keep in mind that the best growing season is winter and not the summer time. Therefore, stop feeding your plant once the dormancy occurs in the late spring. Yet, feed them again when winters come around. THE BEST SPOT TO PLACE YOUR PLANT Place your frizzle sizzle under the full sun or partly shady place in a south-facing direction. Don’t forget that this unusual yet attractive mini frizzle sizzle requires a sheltered spot, away from the radiators, draughts, and windows. Well, filtered sunlight for your albuca spiralis is acceptable. Furthermore, its attractive spiral leaves are greatly affected by the amount of water and sunlight they receive. Put simply, low light conditions will produce fewer curls in the leaves. Direct sunlight or extremely hot temperatures can burn your little plant. For this reason, make sure to place your frizzle sizzle in a position with filtered sunlight. Terms of Service WE SHIP ON MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, & SATURDAYS ONLY. I sent this as a gift. It was well packaged. The ends of the plant were all brown. I wish I had know this is how it would arrive because I would have purchased something that was green and growing, not at the end of its cycle.

Hi , we are very sorry about your experience, but right now is their dormant period. I hope it comes to life and is as pretty as the picture when it’s in it’s growing season.

I have not ordered houseplants through the mail but this delivery showed me that it is possible to get a plant in perfect condition! Packaged so securely, soil kept damp, etc. The plant is doing great! Very happy with this purchase!

When it came, the tips were brown and the little spiral (leaves?) were just kind of coming off. I was about to panic. But I researched and saw that this was their dormant period. I hope it comes to life and is as pretty as the picture when it’s in it’s growing season.

I haven’t over watered. I it has only 4 leaves(?) and they’re turning brown. I’ll hold out on hope that something will give. But I’m sad and disappointed.

LOVE the little plants. Exactly as expected. Only drawback is that one had about half the potting mix dumped out. BUT since the pot was in a plastic bag, all the soil was there & I was able to return it to the pot around the roots of the plant. No harm.
